The war on our social safety net is now fully underway.

President Obama is endorsing cuts to Social Security benefits as part of his grand bargain to raise the debt limit rather than raise taxes on the wealthy. We can't wait for 2012 to show our opposition to this terrible plan - we need to act now. That's why we're pledging not to vote for ANYONE (including President Obama) who cuts social safety net benefits.

We refuse to sit by and watch the political classes get away with making cuts to Social Security. Firedoglake will make it as painful as possible for any politician from any party to participate in this wholesale looting of the public sphere.
