Having a strong Public Insurance Option is critical to the health and future of our nation. It is supported by more than 70% of the people of this nation. It is an issue, which has led the Democratic Party to its current majorities in both the House and Senate.

It is time for the Democrats who have been elected to represent the will of the people to do just that. Democrats must support a robust public option, which is available everywhere on day one. To do anything else is to flout the will of the people. Elected office is a privilege which is only granted to those who  work for the best interests of people.

To make clear the consequences to any Democratic lawmaker who fails to vote for a strong public option, we, the undersigned, make the following pledge: We will support with our time, money and, most importantly, votes any Democratic primary challenger to a Democrat who votes against the public option.
