Tell Senator Bennet: Keep your promise, force the vote on a
public option

Colorado Senator Michael Bennet demonstrated that there were 51 votes for a public option within the Senate.

Bennet has an opportunity to improve the final health care reform bill by introducing the public option for an up-or-down vote.  According to statements made by Bennet's campaign, he's refusing to force the vote because he doesn't want to 'kill the bill to make a point.'

But health care has already passed-- Bennet can't kill the bill just by introducing an amendment. And he doesn't even have to worry about the bill being sent back to the House, because it already has to go back for reconsideration.

Senator Bennet, there just aren't any excuses left.

We're calling Bennet's office to tell him to force the vote on a public option in the Senate.  Use the script below to call his offices and report your findings using the form on the left.

Hi, my name is ________________ and I'm a constituent of Senator Bennet.

I'm calling to see if Senator Bennet intends to follow through and save the public option in health care reform.

Senator Bennet claims he has support to pass the public option as an amendment in the Senate.

Now that the House bill has passed and health care reform can no longer fail, Senator Bennet can prove that he truly wants a public option for all Americans by introducing it as an amendment for a simple up-or-down vote.

Will Senator Bennet save the public option and give Americans one last chance at real health care reform by forcing a vote?
